You have the makings of a detective as you’ve stumbled upon my secret page! I wanted to share a little bit more about me, but as an aspiring detective myself, I decided to make it a fun secret page!
Keep reading to learn more about my hobbies & the chance to read one of my short stories!

I’m what you might call a serial hobbyist. For as long as I can remember, I’ve flitted from one thing to the next enjoying them all. If I had to describe my hobbies though, a lot of them are rooted in nerdy things. I think it’s the product of reading my whole life. Through books I can escape to anywhere, and hobbies give me the chance to try new things.
Plus having a lot of hobbies is great for my creative life, and they often influence characters I’m working on. Or perhaps my characters influence my hobbies… Either way, the more stories I write, the more my own hobbies show up on the pages!

While reading has stuck around since I was a kid, I’ve grown into a lot of my hobbies as an adult.
I played with LEGO a bit when I was younger, but now it’s a really big, creative hobby of mine.
As is D&D! (Dungeons & Dragons). My favorite characters I’ve created are a half-elf rogue named Elowyn and a half-elf druid name Aloreia.
I also love to garden (veggies & flowers) and ride my bike in the summer time, just like my character Ruby. But I also enjoy rollerblading, hiking, camping, and riding my motorcycle. Someday I hope to travel across country on it! Music is a big part of my life, too. I played flute through school and now I play the guitar and ukulele. I’m sure as the years go on, I’ll be adding to my collection of hobbies!

some of my favorite things are:

food: ice cream, coffee, & macrons
animal: dogs, of course, & hedgehogs
color: teal & yellow
movie: You’ve Got Mail
book:
too many to list! But if I have to pick just one…Stargirl
artist
: Vincent Van Gogh
season: fall
flower: sunflowers

Right after I got married, my husband and I adopted a greyhound whose name was JJ. He was a retired racing dog looking for his furever home. He loved to run around in a fenced in ball diamond, and goodness was he fast. But he was also the best writing buddy, often curled up next to my desk as I wrote my very first novel for kids. Now he’s here in memory and also in the pages of that story.

I’ve loved animals as long as I can remember, but I’m a dog person through and through. (I have nothing against cats; I’m just allergic.) Growing up, we had a Dalmatian named Dolly who loved to jump in piles of leaves with me. She was my very first writing buddy.

My current writing buddies are Gatsby, a red, long-haired mini dachshund and Daisy, a black, short-haired mini dachshund. They’re named after characters in my favorite classic novel, The Great Gatsby, and anytime I’m in my office they are right there with me, curled up on the comfy chair they’ve claimed as their own.

I was ten going on eleven when Harry Potter was first published, and so I grew up with the boy wizard. His stories changed my life not just as a story to love, but they gave me a passion and a community of forever friends.

I’m a Gryffindor by sorting, but equal parts Hermione & Luna by heart.

I may have never received my Hogwarts letter, but I when visited the Wizarding World for the very first time as an adult, it felt like being at home.
